FASHION PROFILE

The Full Story

With an intense passion for all aspects of fashion, I’ve been involved in the industry of art and fashion since I was a kid, as my mother runs her own boutique since 1989 and my grandmother is an oil painting artist. Through my Fashion Design Portfolio, I aim to showcase fashion-forward garments and a walk through my latest work. Although this has been a lifelong interest of mine, I only recently joined the industry as a professional in London.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Fashion Work

The following is a listing of my professional fashion experience. Each of these roles was unique and they all contributed to both my personal and professional development. In addition to these roles, I’ve also had a few endeavours of my own, which you can see in my portfolio.

June 2019 - August 2019

ASSISTANT FASHION DESIGNER  |  CHARLI LONDON

Charli London is a renowned contemporary fashion brand that offers seasonal collections of contemporary essentials mainly in cashmere, wool, organic cotton, linen and silk.

My main duties were related to the design and development of a large range of knit and a smaller range of wovens for season AW20. Starting from a deep trend research and presentation of the market competitors and prices, I went through all other stages of the new collection. I worked on prints for wovens and artworks for knitwear using both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, and requested the pertinent lab dips and swatches to the factories.  I was also responsible for some of the new CADs, later updates and minor adjustments on carry-over styles usign Adobe Illustrator.  My tasks also included setting up of new tech-packs and masterlists using Excel.

From this point, I worked across the Production team, following up the tech-packs along the process not only for the new range plan but also for SS20 collection, going through packing lists and maintaining the critical path too. I also attended and supported fitting sessions, having measured each garment previously, in order to make improving comments for the factories.

November 2018 - May 2019

ASSISTANT FASHION DESIGNER  |  MARIE-CHANTAL LTD

Marie-Chantal is a luxury childrenswear clothing brand set up in London by Princess Marie Chantal of Greece, focused on her love for classic and timeless designs.

I worked on design, both creative and technical sides, and also assisting the Production team when needed.  When I first started, AW19 was coming in, so I had to follow up the tech-packs, lending a hand to the production team in order to get every sample measured and fitted on mannequin. From that point, I learned how to write comments to the factories to obtain the perfect finish for each garment.

Once that busy time for the Production team passed I could finally focus on my actual role. Emma Hall, designer of the brand, was on maternity leave so she needed an assistant to work at the office while she was working part-time from home. Therefore, I partially took over her work which started with creative work for SS20 such as trend research and creation of mood boards for each inspirational theme in the collection. We visited the London Textile Fair together, where we made our selection of fabrics, trims and prints. After that, I made technical drawings and rendering for the new styles, as well as the graphic design of the three exclusive prints for textile and hand-drawn artworks for T-shirts. I had to present ideas for embroidery motifs too, mixing crafted techniques and computer programs work, as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

September 2016 - November 2018

MADE TO MEASURE DESIGNER  |  ARCA BOUTIQUE

Arca Boutique is our family bussiness in Gandia, Spain. My mother, Ana Morant, founded her own multi-brand boutique in the city center nothing but 30 years ago. Once I finished my Fashion Design degree, mum and I spotted a gap in the clothing market of our city: the 'made to measure' design, exclusive and tailored outfits for our customers.

No matter what they were looking for, I had a meeting with each client where they exposed their ideas, and I sketched straight away what they had in their minds, getting to a point where the design met, if not exceeded, the customer expectations. Having previously agreed not only on shapes, but also on materials, colors and textures, I selected and bought the pertinent fabrics. A second meeting, now with our dressmaker,  let me transfer all the information required to obtain the results customers expected. Finally, a couple of fitting sessions and a few tweaks here and there and they were ready to show off their unique and exclusive outfit.

June 2016 - September 2016

COSTUME DESIGN INTERN  |  SASTRERÍA CORNEJO S.A.

Founded in 1920 by Humberto Cornejo in Madrid (Spain) was carried on by Vicente Cornejo and later generations to turn the firm into what it is today: one of the most important rental and period costume houses in the world. During my time with the company, we spent most of our time working for two Netflix original series: Cathedral of the Sea and Cable Girls.

- At the Milliner studio, I made medieval bonnets for Cathedral of the Sea, but also stunning chinese crowns for Puccini's opera Turandot.
- At the Repair studio, I made medieval pattens - overshoes made of choth - and fixed jerkins and doublets for Cathedral of the Sea.
- At the Pattern Cutting studio, I learned how to make 20's suits for Cable Girls, and worked closely with Pepe Reyes (figurine maker of Cathedral of the Sea). For women, I cut a wimple - cloth used to cover nun's head - and a medieval dress for Cathedral of the Sea.
- At the Tailoring & Dressmaking studio, I sewed some men's medieval garments for Cathedral of the Sea and women's 1920 period dresses for Cable Girls. I also helped Helena Sanchis (figurine maker of Cable Girls) finding nice 20's dresses and accessories in their giant warehouses.
- The last studio was dedicated to Footwear and Leather, where I hand-made handbags, boot covers, coat of mail and cuirass for war scenes, fasteners with buckles, belts and scabbards - belt accessory to hold the sword.
- In addition, I attended a fitting session for Aitor Luna, Daniel Grao and Ana Moliner's Cathedral of the Sea outfits.
